Matthew Aziz

Matthew Aziz joins Ocean Point Volleyball Club in 2025 following an accomplished collegiate and club career marked by consistency, leadership, and championship-level experience. A standout libero for the UCLA Bruins under coach John Speraw, Aziz made 24 starts during the 2025 season and played a critical role in the Bruins’ run to their third NCAA title appearance in as many years. Known for his elite defensive instincts and court awareness, he recorded 90 digs on the season, with four or more digs in 14 matches and a season-high eight in UCLA’s five-set win at Grand Canyon University.

Throughout his collegiate career, Aziz earned College Sports Communications Academic All-District honors and was a regular fixture on the UCLA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the Pac-12 Spring Honor Roll. His consistent contributions included major performances in the 2024 NCAA Championship match against Long Beach State and key regular-season contests against top-ranked programs such as USC, Penn State, and Ohio State.

Prior to UCLA, Matthew played for San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club, where he led teams to multiple national medals including gold at the 2021 18USA SCVA Junior Boys Invitational and silver at the SCVA West Coast Classic. His high school resume at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks is equally impressive—he was a three-time team MVP, a multi-sport athlete, and named the school’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2021.

As a coach, Matthew brings a high-IQ, technically refined approach to the libero position. His personal journey—from early national success through injury recovery to NCAA tournament play—makes him a gifted mentor for aspiring athletes.
