Rafael Urbina
Coach
Rafael Urbina is one of the nation’s premier young setters, bringing elite high school, club, and international experience to UCLA Men’s Volleyball. After joining the Bruins in the fall of 2025, Rafael continued his development during the 2026 season while training within one of the most successful collegiate volleyball programs in NCAA history.
Before UCLA, Rafael enjoyed a decorated career at Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colorado. He was a two-time First Team All-State selection (2024, 2025), a four-time First Team All-Conference honoree (2022–2025), and earned Conference Setter of the Year recognition in each of his four varsity seasons. His exceptional senior campaign culminated with being named the 2025 Colorado High School Player of the Year.
At the club level, Rafael competed for both Bay to Bay Volleyball Club and Lobos Volleyball Club, developing into one of the country’s top setters. Internationally, he represented the United States at the 2024 NORCECA U19 Continental Championship, helping Team USA capture the gold medal while earning Best Setter of the Tournament honors. He also competed with Team USA at the 2025 FIVB U19 World Championship in Uzbekistan.
