Every season builds toward one defining moment. For Ocean Point Volleyball Club, that moment is Nationals in Orlando.
After a successful inaugural season, Ocean Point’s players, coaches, and families head to Florida for four days of high-level competition, shared experiences, and unforgettable memories. Nationals is more than the final tournament of the year—it is the culmination of countless practices, weekend tournaments, team dinners, long car rides, strategy sessions, victories, setbacks, and the daily commitment to becoming better volleyball players, better teammates, and better young men.
Leading the club throughout the week will be Coaches Matt Aziz, Grant Sloane, and Zach Rama, alongside Club Director Alex Knight. Together they will be on the sidelines teaching, encouraging, celebrating, and investing in the relationships that have become the foundation of Ocean Point.
The 2025–2026 season has exceeded every expectation.
Ocean Point’s 13U team finished the season ranked No. 9 in the Southern California Cup Rankings, earning impressive victories over Bay to Bay, SC Legends, Balboa Bay, Wave, and Coast Volleyball Club. Competing against many of the nation’s premier volleyball programs, the team demonstrated resilience, discipline, and steady improvement throughout the year.
Yet wins and rankings tell only part of the story. This first season was about building something much deeper than a volleyball team. It was about building a culture.
From day one, Ocean Point set out to become more than another club in Southern California’s highly competitive volleyball landscape. The vision was to develop a place where boys would grow as athletes, teammates, leaders, and young men, while families found genuine community along the journey.
One parent captured that vision perfectly:
“Ocean Point is more than a volleyball club—it’s a culture. OP takes a group of boys and turns them into athletes, turns them into a team, and turns the families connected to them into a community.”
That culture did not happen by accident. Throughout the season, the club intentionally created opportunities for players and parents to connect beyond the court through team dinners, family events, and shared experiences. Guest coaches—including current and former UCLA players, professional athletes, and Olympic-level coaches—invested in the boys, exposing them to elite volleyball while modeling excellence, humility, and leadership.
Parents consistently praised not only the instruction their sons received but the intentional way the coaches invested in each individual player.
As one family shared,
“The coaching staff understands the balance of coaching young boys as they enter the sport—building their confidence, teaching them what it means to be a good teammate, helping them understand leadership, and of course developing their volleyball IQ.”
Perhaps even more remarkable is what Ocean Point accomplished in its very first year.
In one of the most competitive boys volleyball regions in the country, the club quickly established a distinctive identity built on relationships, organization, communication, and player development.
One experienced volleyball family, whose children have competed at several of Southern California’s premier clubs, described Ocean Point this way:
“OP is already the best of the best. They focus first on growing the boys’ love for the game, thriving as a high-functioning team, and cultivating the skills and character necessary to compete among the best clubs in the country. It is rare for a club to begin with such a well-defined culture from day one.”
That has always been Ocean Point’s vision. The club’s motto—Developing Champions. Playing with Joy.—is more than a slogan. It is the heartbeat of the program.
Championships are measured by far more than medals. They are built through daily habits, encouraging teammates, embracing challenges, learning from adversity, and competing with gratitude. Joy is not simply the result of winning—it is the attitude with which Ocean Point approaches every practice, every match, and every relationship.
As the inaugural season comes to a close, excitement is already building for Year Two.
This summer, Ocean Point will expand its programs, add new teams, welcome additional coaches, and continue creating opportunities for young athletes to develop both on and off the court. The vision remains unchanged: to become one of Southern California’s premier volleyball clubs by developing exceptional players, extraordinary teammates, and outstanding young men.
The foundation has been laid. The future is incredibly bright.
Summer clinics and tryouts are just around the corner, and Ocean Point looks forward to welcoming the next generation of players and families into the program.
As one parent said after only a single training session,
“Our son began bleeding OP blue through and through after his very first practice.”
